The last match before the summer break
On Sunday, an exciting and intense match was played at Fløtugerði between ÍF and HB. In the first 15 minutes, we had more possession, both teams had free kicks in good positions and corners, where we also had a chance for a penalty kick. However, the HB women were constantly ready to counter us, and they came close to scoring twice, but our defense read the situations well and cleared the balls away.
In the 26th minute, HB gets a free kick on the right side, but Olga comes out masterfully and kicks the ball out for a throw-in, great goalkeeping. In the 28th minute, Marta plays a through ball to Mary-Ann on the left, who reaches the goal line and sends a ball into Kristina, who tries a shot, but the HB goalkeeper saves it skillfully.
After 34 minutes, HB scores a goal from a free kick, which is initially cleared but they win the rebound and have an easy opportunity to shoot. It's 0-1 to HB. But we don't let it discourage us and continue to push forward. In the 45th minute, Annika wins a ball on the right side, dribbles past three players and crosses it, where Mary-Ann arrives quickly and places the ball nicely into the top right corner for 1-1.
Half-time: 1-1.
We also start the second half well, playing nicely in the defense and midfield, but unfortunately, we often lose the ball in the final third of the match. After 54 minutes, HB takes the lead with 1-2.
The remainder of the second half is similar to how the match began. We have more possession, try to play around, and HB waits for counter-attacking opportunities. In the 80th minute, Eyðun replaces Birita in the attack, so we now play with three defenders, but unfortunately, we don't equalize.
The match ends 1-2 in favor of HB.
